What to Look for in a Northern Colorado Realtor

Finding the right real estate partner can shape the entire experience of buying or selling a home. In Northern Colorado, the market moves quickly and carries its own quirks, making it essential to choose a realtor who brings more than a license to the table. You need someone who understands the region and knows how to guide clients through important decisions with confidence.

A Deep Understanding of Northern Colorado

Each town in Northern Colorado has its own personality. These aren’t just points on a map; they’re places with real character, substance, and nuance, and your realtor should understand that.

Fort Collins

The home of Colorado State University and a host of thriving industries, including breweries, computer technology, and software, Fort Collins is routinely listed among the "Best Places to Live" in several national publications. Our founder, Jackson Lamperes, grew up in Fort Collins and has intricate knowledge of not only the city but its surrounding communities as well.

Fort Collins' population has been growing for decades, to the point where there is precious little land left for development. The community is strongly environmental and supportive of individual and artistic expression, but finding the right rental or property here can be challenging in an extremely fast-paced and expensive real estate market.

Fort Collins has plenty to offer first-time home buyers with the cash to buy in, but there are also surrounding commuter areas that offer comparable quality of life with lower housing prices. Or, you can opt for a custom build on land outside or within these municipalities. Contact Black Bear for more information on lot purchases.

Loveland

Loveland is a fast-growing real-estate market just south of Fort Collins, only about 10-15 minutes away from Old Town and other Fort Collins attractions. Loveland is in the midst of reviving its own downtown core, adding charming brick apartment buildings and renovating older alleyways and streets to adopt a more welcoming, pedestrian-friendly approach. Living in Loveland also puts you in close proximity of US Route 34—a short route to the mountain vacation town of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.

The eastern outskirts of Loveland, meanwhile, are filled with great new developments such as the Kinston project near the Centerra outlet mall. These and other outer Loveland communities are a great option for those who want a little more space, as well as I-25 commuters and those who want easy access to outdoor amenities like Boyd Lake State Park.

Longmont

Founded by Chicagoans in 1871, Longmont is one of the best-kept secrets on Colorado's Front Range. A bedroom community of Boulder, Longmont offers close proximity to the Flatirons, University of Colorado, and I-25, where it's just a 40-minute jaunt down to Denver. It's also only about an hour to I-70 for access to the mountain ski resorts, and a little over an hour in the other direction to Denver International Airport. Longmont's central location and blend of rural and suburban culture make it one of the best-situated communities for enjoying all that Colorado's Front Range has to offer.

Greeley

Greeley began as an agricultural colony in 1869 and blossomed into a hub of regional farming and industry. Greeley has long supported a diverse community of farm workers, educators, and other professionals, with the University of Northern Colorado and JBS Meatpacking plants among the major employers. With its growing and diversifying population over the years, Greeley has transformed into a hub of activity on the High Plains, with popular annual events like the Greeley Stampede and a revitalized downtown filled with brick-lined streets, quaint shops, and breweries. Bike trails connect Greeley with the nearby community of Windsor, and go all the way to the Fort Collins foothills, if you're a pedal junkie.

Housing in Greeley is generally more affordable than surrounding areas, so it's a great option to look for first-time buyers or those looking to snatch up rental properties, as there's a continuous demand for budget-friendly housing. Contact Black Bear today to find your best property fit in Greeley or elsewhere in northern Colorado.
